East to West Pathway Remodelling

The Site
Description: The pathway runs east-west through Bemerton estate from Carnoustie Drive in the east to Pembroke Street to the west. The pathway incorporates areas of green space and opens up in a central paved area

The pathway is surrounded by blocks of flats as well as some green space, car parking and a nursery school.

Adjacent or nearby uses or activities are as follows:
– The pathway is bound by residential buildings and private gardens to the west, residential buildings, private gardens and a school to the east.
The Works
Resurfacing of existing pathway, creation of new stepped access, widening of existing ramp, new retaining walls, drainage elements, motor scooter barrier, closeboard fencing

DDA compliant ramp has been incorporated into the area complete with handrails

 

                               

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Upper area before and after , Tigermulch has been laid around the trees, with the remaining space being surfaced with red macadam

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The existing retaining wall was broken out as the path was too narrow. A new retaining wall was cast from concrete on site increasing the width of the path by 400mm.
The fencing was installed by SLC and manufactured by Jackson Fencing from their Chilham range. The path being resurfaced using red macadam
